University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Western Psych, PITTSBURGH, PA
UPMC’s Western Psych facility needed updated air handling units and the associated electrical upgrades for three floors of the hospital. The existing areas where the units resided were quite confined which posed a challenge for the installation team, giving very little space to maneuver. The project needed to be complete with minimal downtime and inconvenience to the facility’s daily operations. It was imperative to the client that the installs offer a consistent, comfortable environment for all patients and staff within a 3 month period.
EMCOR Services Scalise Industries was selected as University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s (UPMC) vendor of choice to perform mechanical and electrical upgrades at UPMC’s Western Psych facility.
To meet the client’s expectations, the technicians replaced the outdated air handling units with a reengineered design and updated, more energy efficient units. These installations will reduce overall energy costs and improve air flow and occupant comfort. Electrical upgrades were also completed to ensure that the systems operate at their peak performance. Scalise’s team was able to effectively work within the confined areas to complete the installations within the client’s specific schedule. With these upgrades, the client will experience a return on their investment through improved, up-to-date mechanical systems and an overall reduction in energy costs.
